Spell Channeling Rules for D&D 5th Edition

This week, a short break from the d20 Modern conversion, instead adding a new action option for spellcasters: channeling.

Have you ever thought that the concentration mechanics could do with a little spice? Channeling is just that. Essentially, while a character is concentrating on a spell, they can use their action to channel that spell, providing some small additional effect in theme of the spell. The effects aren't particularly powerful, and are intended to give the concentrating caster a resource-free option that isn't just another Fire Bolt.

I've only included channeling effects for a small selection of spells in the document, but if people like this addition enough I would be more than happy to expand the range.

I have a couple more ideas I want to implement into this small spellcasting expansion. So the next post will either be more of this, or some more advanced classes for the d20 Modern conversion. Speaking of d20 Modern, I recently created a blog page which collects all the most up-to-date versions of each component I've created for the conversion, which should hopefully make it a little easier for people to find the bits they need: the d20 Modern Conversion Masterlist.
