d20 Modern Conversion: Ordinaries

This week, the next installment of the d20 Modern conversion introduces 15 statblocks for representing a wide range of NPCs in your modern campaign.

Sorry for the kinda small update this week, I mostly knocked this one out in between working here and there on some larger future posts. These statblocks are each based on some combination of 2 of the 6 basic classes. With some slight customization, they could be used represent almost any unspecialized NPC in your campaign.

The idea of "Ordinaries" is taken directly from d20 Modern. They were made up of a combination of the basic classes just like this, but it also included three different levels of the NPC. That doesn't work quite so neatly in this system, as to get higher-levelled NPCs would necessitate them taking an Advanced Class, which kind of defeats the point of them being generic NPCs that can fit into most situations. Additionally, I don't think it's particularly interesting to make your higher-level friends and foes generic. Instead, the rest of the NPCs in the conversion are going to be what I'm currently calling 'elites', who will be specialized NPCs - so your snipers, hit men, and spellcasters.

Well that's all for this week. I'm off on holiday with my family next week, but I'll try and get an update queued up before I go so hopefully there shouldn't be a release gap.
