d20 Modern Conversion: Robot Race

This week, the next installment of the d20 Modern conversion introduces the first race of the conversion: the Robot. The Robot race offers some degree of customisation, and can cover a range of robot types, ranging from mass-produced droids built to fight wars to androids designed to impersonate biological creatures.
While this isn't quite "Modern" content, it is featured in the d20 Future book as an available player option, and I really liked the idea of playing as a robotic character as they make a flavourful addition to any setting where they're appropriate, and have some interesting role-playing possibilities.

When building this race, I took inspiration from u/Zephilinox's Warforged race, using basically the same mechanic for the customisation element of this race. You should totally check the Warforged race out, it's my favourite implementation of Warforged I've seen in 5th Edition. Without getting technical, the player is given a certain number of points when making the character which they can spend on various upgrades and modifications. I'm still not totally sure on the costing of some of the modifications I've included, especially when they didn't have a good parallel in the base game I could compare to.

Using the Detect Balance rating, the race comes out on the higher end of the power spectrum, but still within the reasonable bounds. I'm mostly worried that the Fragile Circuitry feature isn't effective at balancing the race as a whole, as it will only come into play every so often. Also, they could be considered slightly more powerful as players have quite a lot of free choice in building their character, which could be used to make an optimised build. Any feedback regarding these points on the race would be much appreciated.

Next week we return to our scheduled broadcasting, continuing with releasing the advanced classes for the conversion, with the Field Scientist and the Techie advanced classes.
